HOW dreamdare, Inc.  BEGAN:
dreamdare, Inc. is a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of fund-raising for charities by the sale of themed yearly printed calendars.

I believe everyone wants to help out and give. As an artist I wanted to do something that would be meaningful.  In 2007 I came up with the Idea that I can use my artwork to raise money for charities that would be affordable to everyone.  If I created a calendar and have most of the proceeds go to charities I could reach out to people and get them involved.  My digital artwork included “Day at the Beach Collection” and  Marilyn Monroe “The Modern Marilyn Collection”.   I was going to start out with that but I had the opportunity to create some original fantasy artwork for a project I had and I thought this would be a great theme for a calendar.  And so “Butterfly Vixens” was born,   a celebration of beautiful woman with butterfly wings ( a variation of Fairies ) with an abstract background.

I began to contact charities that I have donated to over the years. The Christopher and Dana Reeve foundation got back to me right away and supported the idea. So 2008 was all consuming in finding models to photograph, finding entertainers to be in the calendar (MXYY, B5,  Maizee, Monet and Sasha Eleyce), creating the artwork, finding a printer (cafepress) and figure out a marketing Plan (Myspace).

Everything came together and October 10th 2009,  the Butterfly Vixens calendar premiered at www.cafepress.com/dreamdare with partial proceeds ( 75% of the net ) to benefit  the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. This G-rated Calendar has facts on Spinal cord injuries on each month and Butterfly Vixens contact information. The calendar is under the umbrella of dreamdare, Inc., the non-profit organization I started to help and get people involved.

In 2009, dreamdare Inc. will be looking for other charities to help raise money for by themed calendars. There is no cost to the charities to have a “calendar for charity” calendar for them.
